Uganda, situated in the heart of Africa and astride the equator is a lush and fertile country with spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife, thereby justifying its description as “The Pearl of Africa.” The country is landlocked and is bordered by Kenya to the east, Tanzania to the south, Rwanda to the south-west. The Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west and South diverse landscape, the Kigezi highlands.
In Uganda you can enjoy many outstanding attractions such as : the numerous National Parks and Wildlife Reserves which provide uncrowded viewing of the varied animal, bird and plan species, the source of the River Nile where it begins its 3000 kms journey to the Mediterranean Sea, the extremely rare and endangered mountain gorilla in the Muhavura Range; the spectacular Murchison Falls on the River Nile; and the famous Rwenzori Mountains which provide challenging climbing expeditions.

VISIT MOUNTAIN GORILLA :
The dense montane forests of the Muhavura and Mgahinga regions in the extreme south-west corner of Uganda support approximately half of the Worlds remaining population of endangered mountain gorilla.
These Gorillas form part of a population of approximately 329 which live in the Virunga Mountains on the border between Congo, Rwanda and Uganda. In 1991 the Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga National parks were created to protect the forest in the hope of extending the gorilla habitat.
The rare and threatened species occupies the deeper parts of the forest and need to be habituated to human presence before a limited amount of viewing can take place. Small supervised groups of visitors have the opportunity of climbing through the dense forests to view these primates inn their natural surrounding.
Mountain gorillas live in Small group led by dominant male and are generally non-aggressive, preferring retreat to attack although they will fight when cornered.

SOME MUST VISIT PLACES IN UGANDA :
Murchison Falls National Park : Murchison Falls is the largest of Uganda’s National Parks. A pleasant wilderness area of rolling grassland and wooded savanna, the park extends from Karuma Falls in the east to Lake Albert in the west. The is bisected by the Victoria Nile and the main attraction for visitors is the spectacular 11 Km launch trip from Paraa up to the Murchion Falls where the River Nile Plunges some 40 meters through a narrow gap in the rock.

Queen Elizabeth National Park : The Park is located in the far west of Uganda bounded to the north by the Rwenzori Mountains to the west by Lake Edward and the border with Congo and to the east by the western rift valley escarpment.

Rwenzori Mountains : The legendary mist covered ‘Mountains of the Moon’ on Uganda western border with the Democratic Republic of Congo lie to the north of Queen Elizabeth National Park and cover an area of approximately 90 kms north to south and 50 kms from east to west. The highest point of the Rwenzori Mountains consist of seven individuals massifs each with a number of seperate parks which remain permanently snow and glacier covered. The Rwenzoris offer treks for walkers and climbers of varying abilities.
