The São Paulo Golf Club has in its glorious past, the solid bases for an active present, with great representatives of the sport. Thus was born the São Paulo Country Club, consolidated with the construction of a new field. A pleasant place, close to Avenida Paulista, where the houses of the coffee barons began to proliferate, this golf course became known and visited by numerous families. As it was located in the highest part, the place became known as “Morro dos Ingleses”, whose name remains today.J. M. Stuart was the winner of the first tournament played in 1903, “Champion Cup”. His name is engraved on the trophy disputed then and until today kept at the headquarters, constituting the complete document of the club’s existence, already at the beginning of the century. Another trophy that tells the story is the Clark Cup, the most traditional game played by the club since 1908.
