Kenya’s capital is cosmopolitan, lively, interesting and pleasantly landscaped. Its central business district is handily compact and is a great place to tune into modern urban African life. Today, it is the largest city between Cairo and Johannesburg.
Nairobi (green city in the sun) is an attractive and growing city that stands on the edge of the Athi Plains and the gentle slopes of Limuru that rise in the Aberdares Mountains. It is an important business and social center with high-rise buildings and international hotels and a good selection of restaurants serving Indian, Chinese, French, Italian and other cuisine. All about the city are public parks and gardens full of shrubs and flowers and the main routes out of town are tree-lined avenues.
On arrival at Nairobi Airport, after you disembark off the flight, proceed through immigration and custom procedures; you will be greeted by your friendly UTT representative.
Depart for Samburu Game reserve located at the North rugged Semi desert region. Samburu Game Reserve is a wild and little visited region, well known for spectacular scenery and wildlife not found in the south: Reticulated Giraffe, the rare Grevy’s Zebra with its large furry ears, the Gerenuk antelope standing on its hind legs to feed and Somali Ostriches with their distinctive blue legs.
Arrive at Samburu Intrepids Camp in time for lunch.
Samburu Intrepids is a lush oasis on the banks of the great Uaso Nyiro River in Samburu Game Reserve. The tented lodge is a delight to be in – deliciously cooled by the river breeze and the forest. The luxury tented camp sits on raised decks overlooking the brown river where the elephants sometimes make an appearance or the crocodiles come out to lounge by the river’s banks.
Depart on an afternoon game drive until dusk. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Intrepids Camp.
Today spend the full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drive. You may see Elephant, Cheetah, Leopard, Eland, Oryx, Impala, Dikdik, Waterbuck and a variety of birds. This lava plain includes a varied landscape of red dirt, thorn scrub, broken volcanic rock, dried riverbeds, steep hills and rocky outcroppings. Following the river’s curves, a forest of Doum Palms, Acacia and Tamarind is a magical contrast of cool green. Other areas of the Reserve include the Uaso Nyiro River where crocodiles sun bath themselves on the banks. It also provides an oasis for a variety of game. Birds are abundant, with 365 species recorded, one for every day of the year.
Overnight at Samburu Intrepids Camp.
After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park.
Arrive at Flamingo Hill Camp in time for lunch.
Flamingo Hill Camp is cushioned at the edge of the famous Lake Nakuru National Park, which lies within the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. Nestled between the "honeymoon hills", and set in beautifully landscaped grounds with natural foliage and a variety of indigenous African plants and flowers. Flamingo Hill Camp provides superb, tented accommodation experience. Cozy, warm and inviting with a personal touch, Flamingo Hill Camp offers the traveler a home away from home!
Enjoy a sumptuous lunch and then proceed for an afternoon game drive in the park visiting the lake shore, the scenic baboon cliff.
Lake Nakuru National Park not only boasts one of the world's greatest ornithological spectacles, with over 450 species of birds, but is also sanctuary to the greatly endangered white rhino. The lake hosts thousands of flamingoes which create a breath taking shimmering pink hue over the lake.
In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner at the Lodge. Overnight at Flamingo Hill Camp.
After breakfast, depart by road for Masai Mara Game Reserve.
This world-renowned reserve, which stretches over 1510 sq km of open rolling grasslands, is watered by the Mara River and littered with an astonishing amount of wildlife.
It is home to Africa's famous "big five" (Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo). The ultimate attraction is undoubtedly the annual wildebeest migration in July and August, when millions of these ungainly beasts move north from the Serengeti.
Arrive in time for lunch at Keekorok Lodge.
Located in the very heart of Kenya’s fabled Maasai Mara National Reserve, Keekorok, meaning abundance in the local Maasai language, Keekorok Lodge has everything possible; no matter who you are, Keekorok will help you feel at home. With the largest gift store in the game park, spacious grounds, countless activities, a sparkling pool, fantastic food and beverage options, and a rich history as the oldest lodge in the Maasai Mara, Keekorok is an unforgettable experience in the Maasai Mara.
